Bassendean To Get Market Place

Bassendean's famous Old Perth Road is to receive it's own market place.
Town council want to bring something to Old Perth Road that will bring the community together. There are a few things on the list and one of them is a place where you can go sit with friends and have a coffee or meal, basically alfresco areas outside shops along the strip and people hot spots. Another idea is to bring a farmers style market with local arts and crafts and so on to one sunday a month. The council is currently asking people to contact them if they want to be involved in organising it or setting up a stall.
Close by on bic reserve there is to be something exciting coming if the community gets behind the organiser. That is summer movies. If you would like to see movies on bic reserve where you and the family could go and sit and enjoy then contact the council and show your support. cheers guys. More updates on these soon

EyeSore Finally Sold

There have been complaints left right and centre about this piece of land. About a yr ago the carpark to the restraunt and bassendean hotel was fenced off and put on sale. The block was over $2.4 and obviously took time to sell. Meanwhile the block has been let go and as you can see to the left its disgusting! and what makes it worse is its on old perth road. Well it took over 12 months but finally the land has been sold and hopefully built on. The land is zoned for retail or commercial property and could fit alot of shops or a couple of big ones. Its pretty exciting to see what will eventually occupy the space in the yrs to come. Hopefully its an aussie restraunt of a new line of shops, alot better than the ones on old perth road atm!

Steel blue oval records highest attendance all yr

The first final of the wafl seaon 09 began at steel blue oval in bassendean and it was a cracker! . Over the past few yrs swan districts club's membership has grown for the better with new sponsorship deals, making in excess of 2m for the yr of 08! and record crowds in 10 yrs. Last week over 5,150 football fanatics enjoyed the game at steel blue oval which is a great result, especially since our team won! and if 2009's season is anything to go by then 2010's season is goin to be a cracker! I urge everyone to support our local team by either buying a membership or just turning up at the games at our oval and supporting out team, and you never know we might get back to the days when over 20,000 people went to a game at bassendean oval!!
The grand stands around the oval are to have work done on them to updrade the facilities. As we all know the oval is run down and hopefully all the support we give we will end up with one of the best wafl ovals in w.a so our experience will be greater for all.
